The North American Release of The Great Ordeal
by rsbakker
I was wrong! Jason actually has one final teaser—this one catching Saubon shortly before one of my favourite scenes in the whole of The Second Apocalypse.
So the book is out in North America! If you believe in the series, thump whatever tub you can… you’re the credible ones.
Everything I do just seems to scare people away!
I think this is my favorite one. All the promos were of great moments in the book, but something really clicks for me on this one.
I got them all printed as posters and gave them to some of the forumers – and they look awesome.
Endless thanks for mentioning the forum in the acknowledgements, having Bakkerfans on the back, and of course lowly me for simply talking more than most others.
TGO was an extraordinary addition to the series, great job.
They would all make great posters.however the one above is my favourite now i’ve had a chance to read the book through once.
I actually broke open the warrior prophet to re-read a scene from that 🙂
For what posters look like IRL.
Way cool!
So how can I get one of those?
Yes, Saubon and the Last Cishaurim please!
You can buy them direct from Jason Deem via deviantart (SpiralHorizon). Send him a message to activate sales on the ones you are interested in – no guarantee he’ll let you though. He seem skeptical about making money from Bakker’s IP.
Regardless, send him a message on deviantart or PM him on the forum, work something out with him – that’s what I did 🙂
“Everything I do just seems to scare people away!”
Isn’t that the whole point? ;D
What a crazy ride it’s been. Congratulations on official release!
I really hope that we’ve passed the hurdle now and that that was the longest gap between published Bakker volumes in your professional writing career :). As always, hoping all success that can be had be yours.
So very unbelievably honoured to have shared in the journey so far.
Henceforth, I shall refer to you as “the Inimitable Mike Hillcoat.”
I think this last in the series is my favorite too. Awesome work, Jason!
Very cool indeed!!I was hoping for more Saubon,he was a cool character in PON.Let’s hope for more Iyokus as well!!
And congrats for the book Scott!!I am only at the beginning but looks very promising. The Slog was great but we have reached the Coffers at last!
Already sitting on my desk next to me as I type this. Scott I cannot wait to read this. I am stoked its finally here.
“Everything I do just seems to scare people away!”
Indeed, one does wonder what kind of a mind would produce something like The Second Apocalypse!
Thought you guys might find this interesting:
Like a smartphone converted to a heads up display…
Scott needs to think of a way of doing an Earwa version of Pokemon Go. Maybe with Chorae instead of Pokeballs.
And a piece on the socio cognitive pollution that pokemon go produces, with all the casual tresspass that is occuring. With the keywords of ‘pokemon go’ a piece on it might go quite viral.
Gotta damn ’em all!
I desperately want to throw money in Bakker’s general direction, but those old-fashioned region restrictions prohibit me from purchasing The Great Ordeal.
Any suggestions on how to purchase the e-book in Europe? The only option I see so far is ordering the hardcover at Amazon and pay 40 USD to have it shipped within two days instead of a month.
Barnes & Nobles with a US address didn’t work for me by the way, it processed my order only to be followed by an e-mail saying that they cancelled it due to the item being ‘out of stock’.
If you don’t mind audiobooks, I’ve got an Audible account (living in Poland), and I’ve been listening to The Great Ordeals since Tuesday.
Out of curiosity, a UK Bakkerfans facebook fan said they couldn’t get the Audible audio book because UK doesn’t have the rights.
Suggestion for them at all?
If you go to amazon canada , possible to google an address in canada, switch in kindle setting that you’ve moved there and download it.
Described in here http://www.second-apocalypse.com/index.php?topic=1925.msg28540#msg28540
My copy is coming in today! Ahhhhhh, can’t wait! …………considering taking a sick day at work?
Any chance of a Canadian kindle version for The Judging Eye and the first series? White Luck and Great Ordeal are available, but not the earlier books.

Bought the book preorder from Chapters – but couldn’t wait and also bought the kindle version from Amazon!
Fantastic book, it’s been a hard wait since WLW but GO delivers!
Can’t wait for TUC!
Btw, I haven’t seen it mentioned anywhere – your anthology kickstarter was funded.
Evil is a Matter of Perspective: An Anthology of Antagonists is to be published early next year. Congratulations.
